Privacy policy

The short version: there are no accounts and no ads. Your career is saved in your own browser. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which parts of the game get played, and you can accept or reject it. The only thing that is stored on our own server is a finished career that you choose to send to the world ranking.

What stays in your browser

The game uses your browser's local storage — not cookies — to keep:

your career in progress, so you can close the page and carry on later;
the list of events you've already seen, so the next careers repeat less;
your language and game speed, and your analytics choice.

None of this is sent to us. The site also keeps an offline copy of itself in your browser so it works without a connection. You can delete all of it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings; that also deletes your saved career.

What reaches the ranking server

The game talks to its ranking server in three situations: to get a random seed when you open the game, to show the ranking table, and to submit a career if you choose to. Getting a seed and reading the table send nothing about you.

When you submit a career, the server stores:

the name you gave your footballer, their nationality and position;
the result: score, verdict, goals, assists, appearances, seasons, trophies, awards and clubs;
the career record — the seed and the decisions you made — so the career can be replayed and verified again later;
the version of the game engine that verified it, and the date.

The ranking is public. The footballer's name, country, position, stats, trophies and clubs are shown to everyone in the game and on this website. If you don't want your real name to be public, don't use it for your footballer. Submitted careers are kept for as long as the ranking exists.

Your IP address

Like any request on the internet, a request to the ranking server carries your IP address. The server keeps it only in temporary memory to limit abuse — how many requests one address can make in a minute — and never writes it to the database.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: how many people visit, which pages they open, which country and type of device they come from, how they found the site, and a few game moments — starting a career, finishing one (with its verdict, score, seasons and position) and sending one to the ranking. We don't send your footballer's name or anything you type.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (their names start with _ga) to tell visits from the same browser apart. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off, and the data is not used for advertising. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. The data is kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.

Your choice. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland get no analytics cookies until they accept; until then Google only receives anonymous signals without cookies. Everywhere else analytics is on by default. Anyone can accept or reject it from the notice on the home page, and change their mind at any time with the Cookies link at the bottom of every page. Rejecting also deletes the _ga cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage.

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can also block Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Hosting providers

The website is hosted on GitHub Pages and the ranking server runs on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and requests, both process technical data such as your IP address under their own privacy policies. We don't receive any visitor reports from them.

Children

The game doesn't ask for anyone's age, email or real name, and can be played in full without sending anything (reject analytics to keep it that way). If you are a young player, give your footballer an invented name if you submit a career.

Changes

If the game ever starts collecting anything new, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
